The Sustainability Department performs research projects and technical consultancy in the domain of sustainable development considering environmental, social and economic dimensions.
The activities focus on the following fields:
Wastes valorization processes targeting to the use of solid-wastes/by–products from industrial, commercial, domestic or other streams, as raw materials in the manufacturing of new high added value products and/or to the exploitation of their energy content
Implementation of circular economy concepts fostering industrial symbiosis, where the wastes/ by-products of an industrial process become the raw materials for another
Product design to meet the challenge of scrap content increase, while allowing unhindered production process and satisfying product quality and application requirements
Process development/optimization towards products of reduced environmental footprint.
Metals recovery from industrial wastes/by–products of mining & metallurgical industry
EU Green Deal impact on metals sector; products - manufacturing processes
Guidance on interpretation/ implementation of high impact complex legislations (i.e. REACH)
Hazardousness/risk assessments of liquid and solid wastes
Solidification/stabilization of hazardous wastes for safe and cost-efficient disposal
The Analytical Chemistry Department supports chemical analyses of solid and liquid samples, for Quality Control and R&D purposes. Our laboratory services include the following activities: ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation for a wide
