The paper with the title “Coproduction Development of Mineral Wool and Low Nickel-FeNi by feeding of ALUFLUX” by Th. Tzevelekou, A. Flampouri, K. Pantazis, P. Lampropoulou, D. Papoulis, B. Tsikouras, S. Papaefthymiou, E. Metaxa was presented in the 5th International Slag Valorisation Symposium, Leuven, Belgium. The Symposium provided a rich overview of the contemporary trends in the worldwide research and innovation strategies as regards the Valorisation of ferrous and non-ferrous slag, fly ash, bottom ash and numerous other high-temperature (metallurgical) residues. Τhe presented paper demonstrated that the use of ALUFLUX – a by-product of secondary aluminum industry, – in the conventional production process of mineral wool in EAF, as a partial substitute of bauxite, results in the co-production of lighter colored mineral wool with high level of technological properties and a low Ni-FeNi metal, allowing the realization of circular economy concept.
