Dr. Kostas Vasilios of the Surface Science & Coatings Dpt, participated in the 19th Fire Retardant Polymeric Materials (FRPM) which was held in Zurich, Switzerland from 26 to 29 June 2023. The FRPM conference, organized by the EMPA (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Engineering) brought together 240 participants from universities, research institutions and industries of this sector from 25 countries. The topics covered applications in regards to sustainability, new developments on flame retardant coatings, environment related issues, recycling of FR materials, testing, characterization, fire safety requirements and standardization of products used for EVs (batteries, e-powertrain, charging stations) etc. There were eight plenary and fourteen keynote lectures given by world-leading academic and industrial experts and around 100 oral and poster presentations.
